Plant Hormone Safe to Humans

Plant hormone also known as phytohormone, is a collection of organic compounds, whether naturally occurring or created by humans, which in very small levels (less than one millimoles per liter, even to just one micromole per liter) to encourage, inhibit, or alter growth, development, and movement plants.
Using of the term “hormone” itself the analogy of hormone function in animals. However, different from animals, plants can be an endogenous hormone, is produced solely by the individuals concerned, as well as exogenous, given from outside the individual systems. Exogenous Hormones may also be the non-natural materials (synthetic, not made from the extraction plant.) Therefore, to accommodate this difference is also the term used growth regulators (plant growth regulator / substances).
“If a plant hormone was used correctly that will not pose a risk to human health.” said Ye Zhihua a researcher who worked with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS).
“The use of substances that do not regularly make the plant growth becomes too fast or affect the taste, but it will not cause harm to human health,” said Ye Zhihua.
This statement is leveled to the public since the media in China reported a watermelon that exploded because of excessive use of phytohormone. Phytohormone is a hormone which stimulates plant growth.
Ye Zhihua continued that plant hormones that are used to enhance growth have the same or similar effect as a natural plant hormone. Fruits and vegetables are sold in the shop still contain residues of hormones in the womb although limited.
More than 100 species of plant hormones such as Ethephon and gibberellin acid, used in agriculture and forestry worldwide. Ye Zhihua also added that there are 38 species of plant hormones that have been registered in China.
