New Type of Escherchia Coli (E. Coli) in Europe
World Health Organization (WHO) declared the E. Coli bacteria is spread almost all over the region of Europe is a new generation of bacteria.
The new bacterium showed a mutation of two different Escherchia Coli with lethal gene that can cause outbreaks that looked so dangerous. This new type of bacteria has not been seen in situations of outbreaks that occurred previously. Scientists from the Beijing Genomics Intitute in China are also explained, the bacteria found in vegetable products that are new species. This bacterium is highly infectious and toxic.
Preliminary evidence indicates that bacteria have genes from two different groups of Escherchia Coli, namely, E. Coli Enteroaggregatife (EAEC) and E. Coli Enterohaemorhagic (EHEC).
UK health protection agency describes them began to study the bacteria. While the Russians began to prohibit imports of fresh vegetables from all countries of the European Union (EU) because of this outbreak is unknown solution. Ban imports of fresh vegetables that have an impact on all EU countries. Russia worried about outbreaks of EHEC that cause hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a disease that attacks the liver and the blood can cause death. Russia banned imports of vegetables from Spain and Germany. At that time Moscow threatens sanctions banning imports of vegetables for the whole of the EU until there is an explanation of the causes and handling of the outbreak.
Russia is moving quickly banned the import of products. But, the move was actually intended to protect local farmers Russia. The BBC reported that a quarter of EU exports of vegetables marketed to Russia. Russia is the single largest export market for EU vegetable farmers. According to the chief consumer protection agency Onishchenko, ban on import of vegetable cessation has preached to all the Russian customs authorities. Onishchenko also criticized the EU food safety standards. This shows that the European health regulations are much praised to no avail. Onishchenko stressed that unpopular measures will remain valid until European officials told the cause of the epidemic.
The European Union has filed a protest against Russia’s move. European Commission spokesman Frederic Vincent said John Dalli European Health Commission sent a letter to Moscow that they did not exactly ban. Vincent says, France, Germany, and Poland is the largest exporter of fruit and vegetables to Russia.
At least 1,500 people have been exposed to the infection of E. Coli. Some 17 people were killed, 16 in Germany and 1 in Sweden. Previously, German officials said the bacteria came from the Spanish cucumber, but then the German officials said they could not confirm the origin of the bacteria.
While Reinhard Burger, head of disease control at the Robert Kosh Institute (RKI), said it had not found the source of an outbreak of E. definite Coli’s. RKI reported there were 365 cases of E. Coli and a quarter of patients had more severe threat.
From the UK, seven people in London were reported infected with E. Coli. All the cases were related to conditions in Germany. The three London residents who are infected never traveled to Germany. According to Dilys Morgan, a specialist in diseases of the Health Protection Agency (HPA), it is currently monitoring the situation with great caution. EU health experts claim to be surprised by an outbreak of E. Coli. Because there was no epidemic like it before in Europe.
The most important of all, hopefully calamity that occurred in Europe was soon completed. Take care of your health because health is more valuable than money. Thank you.
